About Us

The Piping Gourmets was created to fill a void in the market that was missing a well made, tasty snack cake that would appeal to several different consumer groups who were looking for a dessert to satisfy their cravings and yet still be conscious of their dietary needs. Having collectively raised almost a basketball team of children, we were continuously battling food allergies from wheat to soy to dairy. Finding a fun and appealing snack cake was a painful task so we baked our own to share with all dessert lovers!,

Our Story

Batter Up, LLC, is a WBENC certified woman owned company and the parent company of The Piping Gourmets. Launched in October 2011 by co-founders Leslie Kaplan, who earned a BS in Hospitality Management from Florida International University and Carolyn Shulevitz, who is a trained chef from the Culinary Institute of America, Hyde Park, New York.

The Piping Gourmets bakes a scrumptious line of Whoopie Pies created for today’s dessert lovers! Adding a twist to the iconic American snack cake, our Whoopie Pies are certified gluten free, vegan, Kosher-pareve and are Non-GMO Project verified. Our ingredients are plant based and free from the top eight major allergens – Gluten, Eggs, Soy, Dairy, Tree Nuts, Peanuts, fish and shellfish too!

We bake safely in a dedicated gluten free, dairy free, tree nut and peanut free facility too!

We have worked hard to formulate a tasty snack cake that is Baked Better For You!  The Piping Gourmets Whoopie Pies are certified gluten free by the Gluten Free Certification Organization, Vegan by Vegan Action, Kosher-Pareve by OU/Orthodox Union and verified by the Non-GMO Project.
